The early years were filled with humble determination. Under the name Scarf & Selendang Trading, the founders pioneered the use of Swarovski Elements crystals in hijab design, a novelty in Malaysia at the time. Despite the challenges, their passion ignited a movement that redefined modest fashion.

Recognizing the growing love for their creations, the brand was reintroduced as Bawal Exclusive. It was more than a new name, it was a statement of refinement and identity.

The same year, Bawal Exclusive gained prominence when Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza famously wore Swarovski crystals on her wedding gown, catapulting Swarovski’s recognition in Malaysia and elevating the prestige of the brand.

The year 2013 marked the incorporation of Bawal Exclusive Sdn. Bhd. This transition signified the brand’s growth from a homegrown business to a professionally structured company. It reflected maturity, stability, and long-term vision. The incorporation strengthened its foundation for future expansion and innovation. Above all, it solidified the commitment to preserving exquisite Malaysian craftsmanship.

The Year of Expansion
In 2020, Bawal Sdn. Bhd. was established to strengthen the brand’s growing distribution network and ensure that the exclusivity of each piece remained protected.
That year also witnessed the unveiling of The Sparkle of Dream, valued at RM100,000.
Adorned with 7,512 Swarovski crystals, it became the world’s most expensive hijab.
This achievement was officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records. The masterpiece symbolised the pinnacle of innovation, artistry, and ambition. It reinforced Bawal’s position as a global name in luxury hijabs.

2020 also marked the birth of Telekung Haliza Maysuri, inspired by Pn. Haliza’s personal telekung design. The overwhelming response from customers turned it into a full collection. Each piece reflects the brand’s principles; comfort, beauty, and devotion.
Crystal World by Bawal Exclusive
Inspired by Swarovski’s 125th Anniversary in Austria, Pn. Haliza Maysuri envisioned a space that reflected the radiance of the crystals she adored. Thus, Crystal World by Bawal Exclusive was born, a breathtaking boutique built with 100,000 Swarovski crystals, valued at RM2.5 million. More than a store, Crystal World is a sanctuary of elegance, an appointment-only experience where exclusivity, artistry, and emotion unite.
Silver Jubilee, 25 Years
2023 marked the 25th anniversary of Bawal Exclusive, a celebration of timeless elegance. The milestone honoured decades of craftsmanship, devotion, and customer loyalty. It reflected the evolution from humble beginnings to a household name in luxury hijabs. The Silver Jubilee symbolised resilience, growth, and generational impact. It was a moment that celebrated the legacy built over a quarter century.
A Global Recognition
At Swarovski’s Fall/Winter 2026/27 Global Launch in Bangkok, Bawal Exclusive received an exclusive headscarf co-created in Austria with designer Megan Carter. This masterpiece symbolizes the enduring partnership between the two brands, a testament to shared artistry, innovation, and trust.
As it travels the world as part of Swarovski’s global showcase, it carries with it the essence of Bawal Exclusive, Malaysia’s pride in global luxury modest fashion.
